Deadline Approaching for NC Communities to Meet New State Requirements (Chapter 160D) on Updated Comprehensive Plans

PlanNC has announced a new effort to recruit and train volunteer planners to provide assistance to North Carolina communities. The NC Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA-NC) is coordinating work with volunteer planners to receive special free PlanNC 160D training, in conjunction with the UNC School of Government (SOG). The PlanNC workshops are titled: Preparing Streamlined Community Plans.

Additional workshops have been announced! The PlanNC Workshop: Preparing Streamlined Community Plans is schedule for August 31 and September 2. Additional, optional half day sessions will be held on September 7 and 9. there would be no cost to volunteer planners who agree to try and assist at least one community following the workshop. APA-NC would then attempt to match planners with communities requesting assistance in completing these state-mandated changes to the communities' existing or new comprehensive plans. If scheduling conflicts with training arise for participating planners, arrangements can be made to view the workshops at a later time.
