$56,045.00 - $75,000.00

The Raleigh Transportation Department is hiring a motivated Transportation Mobility Strategist who will be responsible for long range and comprehensive planning activities within the Mobility Strategy unit. The Mobility Strategy unit provides long-range transportation planning functions for the city, as well as support to rezoning review and support to other city and regional long-range planning efforts. Current and upcoming efforts for the Mobility Strategy unit include an update to the city Bike Plan, significant support to BRT station area planning and the update of the city’s Comprehensive Plan.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify transportation impacts of rezoning activities and evaluate consistency with transportation plans and policies
  • Review Comprehensive Plan amendments for transportation impacts 
  • Provide transportation expertise to area, corridor, and neighborhood plans as well as conceptual subdivisions and site plans 
  • Present at and facilitate public meetings, boards, and commissions 
  • Identify, prioritize, and create conceptual designs for transportation projects 
  • Serve as project manager for transportation projects, plans, and special studies, including negotiating and monitoring contracts with vendors providing planning and engineering services 

 

Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in urban planning or engineering with an emphasis on transportation planning and management, transportation engineering or directly related field.

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
