The APA-NC Education and Outreach Committee creates opportunities for planners to introduce people to the field of planning. There are two major goals of the committee. First, we want to help the general public understand how planning affects their everyday lives and how to participate in planning in their own communities. Second, we encourage students from diverse backgrounds to consider and pursue the planning profession as an academic and career pursuit.
Education & Outreach Committee Vision Statement
The APA-NC Education and Outreach Committee will build understanding of planning history, concepts, and processes to North Carolinians so that they may participate fully in creating the future of their communities. We will increase awareness of planning as a profession among youth and young adults as a vocational path. The committee will make its products, programming, and activities as accessible as possible for all audience regardless of ability, identity, location, or socio-economic background. The work of the committee will seek to increase inclusion and opportunity for those who have historically been oppressed and marginalized.
