The Challenge
We are hiring a State Traffic Systems Operations (TSO) Planning Engineer to manage our Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) team.
In this role, you will:
- Provide leadership, direction, and supervision of the TSMO team.
- Oversee contract management.
- Serve as our TSMO subject matter expert on project funding sources.
- Develop interdepartmental, interagency, government, community, and resource partnerships to accomplish TSMO strategic initiatives.
- Oversee and implement special corridor projects focused on TSMO strategies.
- Oversee development and maintenance of planning maps/tools, the TSMO Budget, and the TSMO Annual Report.
- Provide oversight and maintain project delivery network documentation.
- Develop and maintain a performance metric dashboard enabling data driven decisions.
What You Bring
- Knowledge of contract management, TSMO philosophy and strategies, ITS technologies, and Traffic Incident Management (TIM).
- Demonstrated leadership experience, skills, and knowledge with past supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of data management, performance measures, and the support of data driven decisions.
- Knowledge of federal/state policies relating to funds administration in a state department of transportation.
- Experience maintaining effective working relationships with state, federal, regional, and local government officials, leaders, and representatives of private concerns.
- Ability to safely operate a state vehicle.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, and
- 5+ years experience; and
- 3+ years supervisory experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Management Prefers
- Candidates who are licensed professional engineers in North Carolina.
Note
- We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
