Pasquotank County, NC is hiring a Planning Technician/Code Enforcement Officer to join our Planning & Inspections Department.  Our community is located in northeastern NC and is centrally located within an hour of the Outer Banks beaches and Norfolk, VA. This is an excellent opportunity for someone just beginning their planning career who wants to learn a broad range of skills relating to planning and development.  

The Position

 The Planning Technician/Code Enforcement Officer performs a variety of technical and administrative tasks focusing on zoning and nuisance enforcement. They will manage code compliance including field investigations, responding to complaints, and maintaining records relating to enforcement activities.  This person will also serve as clerk to the Planning Board/Board of Adjustment and will assist in the coordination and scheduling of monthly meetings as well as record the minutes from these meetings. Once trained, this person will answer basic zoning and land development questions as well as provide back up for the permitting clerk. 

Background and Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Planning, Geography, Public Administration, or related field is preferred. Any combination of education and work experience that demonstrably provides the required skills may be considered acceptable.

The selected candidate must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a NC driver's license. They must also have the ability to obtain NC Certified Zoning Official Status within two years of employment.
