The Town of Morrisville is seeking a motivated professional to join the Planning Department as a Planning Manager.  The position is one of two Planning Managers in the Department and oversees a Planner I, Planning Technician and Code Enforcement Officer.  If you are an enthusiastic team-oriented individual looking for an opportunity to work in a progressive and fast growing community this could be the position for you!

Example of Duties

  • Performs and manages complex and sensitive professional planning projects, research and analysis.
  • Troubleshoots issues and facilitates discussion and resolution.
  • Develops and implements long range planning initiatives.
  • Recommends and oversees amendments to the Unified Development Ordinance.
  • Advises various boards and elected officials on planning-related issues.
  • Supervises and gives direction to staff.
  • Assigns work to professional staff, coaches employees and ensures appropriate training is provided.
  • Oversees work of subordinates related to final plats, special event permits, plot plans, sign permits, annexations, zoning compliance letters, modifications to previously approved site plans and any special projects.
  • Prepares reports on operations and activities, recommending improvements and modifications.
  • Provides informal code interpretations.
  • Participates in inter-departmental projects.
  • Serves as acting Planning Director in his or her absence in rotation with others.
  • Attends evening meetings

The Must Haves (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in City and Regional Planning, Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Public Administration, Geography, or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in land use planning or related field

Set Yourself Apart (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Master’s degree in field relevant to those listed above
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience
