Senior Transportation Mobility Strategist

The City of Raleigh Department of Transportation is hiring a motivated professional who will be responsible for leading long range transportation planning and feasibility studies within the Mobility Strategy unit. 
 
The Mobility Strategy unit provides long-range transportation planning functions for the city, as well as support to rezoning review and support to other city and regional long-range planning efforts. Current and upcoming efforts for the Mobility Strategy unit include an update to the city Bike Plan, significant support to BRT station area planning and the update of the city’s Comprehensive Plan.

The ideal candidate has knowledge in transportation planning and infrastructure, with the ability to provide consultation to other transportation staff and to other departments. The ability to engage in inclusive dialogue with a variety of internal and external audiences is a must, as well as a professional commitment to working towards the goals and initiatives of the City of Raleigh for transportation equity, accessibility, and sustainability.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as project manager for transportation plans, area or corridor plans, and feasibility studies
  • Provide oversight of and monitoring contracts with consultants providing planning and engineering services
  • Support long-range transportation planning and prioritization efforts, other City and regional long-range plans, corridor studies, small area plans, etc.
  • Participate in regional transportation planning activities associated with the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) and coordination with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT)
  • Present at and facilitate public meetings, boards, and commissions

 

Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in urban planning or engineering with an emphasis on transportation planning and management, transportation engineering or directly related field and five years of related experience

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
